Some tequila is just tequila, and then there's the kind that's spent three decades resting in the Cuervo family's private cellars. Reserva de La Familia isn't a bottle you simply pour — it's one you sit down for.
Expert Description
Jose Cuervo Reserva de La Familia is a Mexican Extra Añejo Tequila made from 100% agave, aged in French and American oak and bottled at 38%.
Like the rest of the Cuervo family's range, the bottle comes from the La Rojeña distillery in Jalisco, where tequila has been made since 1795. Reserva de La Familia was created in 1995 to mark the 200th anniversary of the Cuervo family's tequila venture, and it's considered the world's first commercial Extra Añejo Tequila. It's aged for an average of three years in French and American oak, and the final blend is complemented with tequila from reserves that have rested for over 30 years in the distillery's private cellars. Every bottle is handmade, wax-sealed and individually numbered, and the annual gift box is decorated each year by a celebrated Mexican artist.
