Ron Barcelo Rum

A young idealist from Mallorca arrived in Santo Domingo in 1929 with a dream of creating the Dominican Republic's finest rum. Julián Barceló proved right: his name became synonymous with quality, and his most famous bottle, the amber-colored 'Pitufita', became a national icon from 1970 onward. Fifty years later, his successors set a world record when Ron Barceló Imperial was crowned the world's best rum with the highest score a respected American testing institute had ever awarded.

The rum is distilled from molasses and aged using a solera-inspired method that delivers a round, approachable sweetness, ideal for beginners. History & Background

As early as 1970, the house launched its iconic Añejo in the patented, amber-colored bottle known as 'Pitufita', which quickly became a national symbol. Ten years later, in 1980, Barceló presented its Imperial release, which the respected Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago crowned the world's best rum with a record-high score of 97 out of 100 points. Since then, Ron Barceló has cemented its place as one of the Caribbean's most respected and fastest-growing rum houses.
