Hudson Whiskey

Hudson brought whiskey production back to New York State for the first time since Prohibition, in an old orchard barn in the Hudson Valley. This is where America's modern craft distilling boom truly began, long before everyone else followed suit.

About Hudson

Hudson Whiskey was created by Tuthilltown Spirits Farm Distillery, founded in 2005 by Ralph Erenzo and Brian Lee in the Hudson Valley, New York, with the explicit aim of reviving the Small Batch Whiskey tradition that had lain dormant in the state since Prohibition. The range today includes six different expressions, with Hudson Baby Bourbon, made from 100% corn, the most sought-after with a light, sweet taste of marzipan, caramel and vanilla and over ten international awards. Collectors regard Hudson as an important milestone among the very first modern American craft whiskeys, while newcomers meet an accessible, sweet-leaning bourbon style.

History & Background

Ralph Erenzo and Brian Lee founded Tuthilltown Spirits in 2005 on an old farm in the Hudson Valley with a clear goal: to restart whiskey production in New York State, where it had been absent since Prohibition shut down the last local distilleries. Erenzo had originally planned to build a climbing centre on the site but met local opposition, which instead led him to seek one of the state's first new distilling licences in decades. Tuthilltown thus became one of the very first examples of the craft distilling wave that has since swept across the entire US, and the Hudson brands are today regarded as pioneers of modern American farm-to-bottle whiskey.

History & Background

Tuthilltown Spirits was founded by Ralph Erenzo and Brian Lee in an old 19th-century mill building and exploited a gap in New York law allowing small producers to obtain a distilling licence for the first time in decades. The Hudson range quickly became a symbol of the American craft whiskey wave that has since spread to all 50 states.

Production & Style

The whiskeys are distilled in small, hands-on batches from local grain, including corn from the Hudson Valley, and are often matured in smaller casks, giving faster cask contact.

Signature Style

Corn-Sweet, Hands-On, Historic
A round corn sweetness and a light vanilla character from the smaller casks give a whisky clearly marked by its place in American craft movement history.
