  Boonekamp Old Version Bitter is a stomach bitter at 21.8% ABV, bottled at 70 cl.

  The Boonekamp name comes from a Dutch pharmacist from Leidschendam, whose stomach bitter recipe from around 1780 later became a shared European term for a powerful, herb-based bitter style. This "Old Version" is an older bottling with a lower alcohol strength than the newer Georg Franck's edition, giving a milder but still clearly herbal expression. As only one bottle remains, this is one for the collector of Boonekamp history as much as the taster.

  The Boonekamp name goes back to a Dutch pharmacist from Leidschendam, whose stomach bitter is said to have first been formulated around 1780 and later developed further in Antwerp in the early 1800s. Over time, "Boonekamp" became a shared European term for a powerful, herb-based stomach bitter rather than a single brand name, much like "Bitter" itself became a category. This version, Georg Franck's Original, is brewed on 10 different herbs and carries a distinct bite that makes it a classic digestif after a hearty meal.
