Codigo Tequila

Código 1530 takes its name from a 1530 law that formalized tequila production in Mexico. Brewed in the heart of Jalisco using traditional methods and high-quality agave, the brand is best known for its Añejo and Rosa expressions. The Rosa edition, finished in Napa Valley wine casks, is one of the rarer crossovers between Mexican and American wine culture in a glass.

Código Tequila Blanco, like all tequilas, is made in Mexico, specifically the region of Jalisco. This white tequila is made from 100% fully ripe agave, of the "Blue Weber" variety. The agave must be at least 7 years old before it is harvested, as this is when the sugar content is highest and the possibility of producing tequila of sublime quality is best. It has not been in contact with a cask, so it appears as natural as possible. Drink it neat or use it in cocktails, such as the world-famous Magarita.

About Codigo Tequila

Código Tequila is produced in Mexico, specifically in the state of Jalisco, known as the heart of tequila production. The brand is committed to making tequila using traditional methods and high-quality agave, and is perhaps best known for its Añejo and Rosa expressions. Añejo ages in French oak casks for 18 months, resulting in a soft and complex tequila, while Rosa is an aged tequila finished in Napa Valley wine casks. For collectors, the Rosa expression is the most sought-after, while newcomers can use Código as an accessible entry into premium tequila.

History & Background

The name Código 1530 refers to a Spanish royal decree from 1530, believed to have formalized the distillation of agave in Mexico and laid the groundwork for the modern tequila industry. The brand was founded by a group of enthusiasts with the ambition of reviving traditional, artisanal production methods, in contrast to more industrial tequila production. Código has since gained international recognition, partly through well-known co-owners and ambassadors, giving the brand a position in the upper premium segment.

Production & Style

The tequila is distilled from 100% Blue Weber agave and aged in casks that previously held French red wine, giving it a unique flavor profile.

Signature Style

Smooth, Fruity, Elegant
The flavor offers a soft agave character with a subtle hint of fruitiness from the wine cask.
