Reserva del Senor Tequila

18 months in the cask gives Reserva del Señor a softness many tequilas never reach. The aroma carries a clear imprint of the oak, while the flavour holds onto the agave's character with light spice and a hint of coffee in the long finish. This is tequila meant to be sipped slowly, not shot quickly.

In 1943, Don César García set out to make a tequila he'd actually want to drink himself. Eight decades on, that same ambition lives on in Reserva del Señor, one of the old-guard Jalisco tequila houses that still holds onto the craft.

    Expert Description

Reserva del Señor Tequila Blanco is a 100% agave Mexican Blanco Tequila bottled at 38%.

The house behind the bottle dates back to 1943 and today forms part of the Spanish Caballero Group, which carries the Jalisco tradition forward. The Blanco expression is the purest in the range: bottled shortly after distillation with no cask ageing, so the full, unfiltered character of the blue agave comes through. The agave is sourced from the highlands of Jalisco, known for their mineral-rich soil and notably sweet agave.

About Reserva del Señor

From Mexico comes this cask-aged tequila, which has spent 18 months in the barrel. It's a super smooth, round quality tequila that will delight connoisseurs. The aroma carries a distinct imprint of the cask, while the palate reveals agave and light spice alongside the oak, plus a touch of bitterness and coffee notes in the long finish. For the newcomer, the cask-aged style is a softer, more accessible entry into tequila than the clear blanco style; for the connoisseur, 18 months of ageing is unusually long for a tequila and places it firmly in the exclusive 'añejo' category, which few producers dare to wait that long for.

History & Background

Reserva del Señor is a Mexican tequila whose name promises a special, select reserve, a term that in the tequila world often signals a longer aging time than a brand's standard expressions. The tradition of highlighting reserve and premium tequila expressions truly took off from the 1990s, as tequila began to be marketed as a spirit to be savored like cognac or whisky, rather than purely as a shot or cocktail ingredient. The agave plants for this type of tequila are typically grown in the state of Jalisco, the historic heartland of tequila production. The name Reserva del Señor deliberately plays on a sense of exclusivity and traditional Mexican hospitality.

Production & Style

The agave plants are harvested and oven-roasted, after which the must is distilled into tequila following traditional Mexican method.
