Ketel One is the Dutch family vodka from the Nolet family, who have distilled spirits in Schiedam since 1691 and still do so with the same copper still that gave the brand its name. For newcomers, it's an unusually clean, smooth vodka; for connoisseurs, one of the few major vodka brands still 100% family-owned after more than 300 years and eleven generations.

History & Background

The Nolet family has distilled in the Dutch port town of Schiedam since 1691, originally genever, and has run the business across eleven generations since. Ketel One was developed in 1983 and named after distillation kettle number one, "Ketel #1", one of the original copper pot stills the family still uses alongside modern column stills. The family still owns the business outright, a rarity among the big international vodka brands.

Production & Style

The vodka is distilled from wheat in two stages, first in modern column stills and then a second time in the historic copper pot still, before filtration.
