Torabhaig Whisky

For more than 190 years, no one had built a distillery on the Isle of Skye. Torabhaig broke the silence in 2017, becoming only the second licensed whisky producer on the island since Talisker in 1830.

    Latest release from the new distillery on Skye, Torabhaig. Torabhaig Allt Gleann is part of the "Legacy Series", where you gradually see the whisky mature. The first bottling came in spring 2021, the second in summer 2021, the third in 2024, and finally, the last in the series will come in 2028, when the 2017 whisky is 10 years old. Enjoy the No. 2 series Torabhaig Allt Gleann Legacy Series Single Malt Whisky Skye - the second edition which is similar to the first, but markedly different. A whopping 77 ppm before distillation and 17 ppm in the bottle!

    Batch Strength edition - Inspired by the spectacular rugged coastline where our distillery is located on the Isle of Skye, we tame heavily peated barley to produce an elegant yet robust dram that balances strength with refinement, highlighting the floral and aromatic character of our whisky. Torabhaig Sound of Sleat Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a distinctive whisky from the Isle of Skye, created as part of The Legacy Series by Torabhaig Distillery. This whisky is made using peated Concerto and Laureate malted barley, giving it a pronounced smoky profile comparable to some of the heavier Islay malts.  

    Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is matured exclusively in American oak casks that previously held bourbon, allowing the whisky to develop a layered complexity. The bottle design features artwork by Scottish landscape painter Ellis O’Connor, celebrating the rugged beauty of Skye.  

    This whisky opens with an inviting aroma of peppery spice, smoky depth, and crisp green apples, with hints of white chocolate and honey. The palate is bold and smoky, featuring notes of charcoal and mineral-rich peat, balanced by bright citrus, malty biscuits, and cocoa powder. The finish is long and ashy, with lingering peppery spice and maritime salinity.

About Torabhaig Whisky

Torabhaig Distillery is located on the Isle of Skye and is only the second licensed whisky producer on the island since Talisker in 1830. For newcomers it's a medium-to-heavily peated single malt capturing the island's maritime character; for collectors, the recent history and limited vintages make Torabhaig one of the most interesting whisky newcomers from Scotland in the past decade, with strong potential for price appreciation as the distillery matures.

History & Background

The project was originally planned by Scottish businessman Sir Iain Noble, who wanted to create a new distillery on Skye, and secured the permit in 2002. After his death, the project was taken over by Mossburn Distillers, who finally got the distillery up and running in 2017 in a renovated 19th-century farm. Torabhaig continues the island's long tradition of maritime, peated whisky, while also being one of the most modern distillery facilities Scotland has seen in decades.
