Isfjord Premium Arctic #1 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky at 42%, bottled at 50 cl, distilled at Braunstein Distillery in Køge, Denmark, and matured in Oloroso sherry casks. Braunstein, founded in 2005, is one of Denmark's most experienced whisky producers and the technical backbone of the Isfjord range. But the defining ingredient is the water — thousands of years old, calved from the glaciers near Ilulissat, Greenland, and remarkably free of modern contaminants. Release No. 1 is the unpeated expression in the series. The Oloroso sherry casks add natural sweetness and depth, with dark fruit, honey and a hint of chocolate shaping the character.
Tasting notes
Nose
Honey and vanilla with gentle orange notes. A faint nuttiness and soft wood from the sherry casks.
Palate
Smooth and rounded. Toffee and ripe berries, with a touch of dark chocolate from the Oloroso cask.
Finish
Medium length and warm. The sherry sweetness lingers before fading gently with a light spice.

Isfjord Premium Arctic #2 is a lightly peated Danish Single Malt Whisky at 42%, bottled at 50 cl, distilled at Braunstein Distillery in Køge, Denmark, and matured in new American oak casks. Like #1, it is built around Arctic iceberg water from the glaciers near Ilulissat, Greenland — thousands of years old and free of modern contaminants. The difference lies in the malt and the cask: #2 uses lightly peated malt and is matured in new oak, which contributes fresh vanilla and coconut notes along with structure and tannins. The peat level is enough to define the character without overpowering it.

Smoke and fresh oak with light fruity notes. Vanilla sweetness mingles with a hint of sea salt and herbs.

History & Background

Isfjord distillery was established with the ambition of showing that spirits production can also thrive in one of the planet's most extreme climates, far from the traditional whisky and gin nations. By using pure iceberg water and local Arctic ingredients, the distillery aims to create a truly unique flavour profile that can't be replicated elsewhere. We have only limited specific documentation of the distillery's founding history and ownership, so details are kept deliberately general.

Production & Style

The whisky is distilled and matured in the Nordic tradition, where the cold climate is thought to give a slower, more controlled maturation than in warmer regions.
