History & Background

Smooth Ambler Spirits was founded in 2009 in Maxwelton, West Virginia, by a group of enthusiasts with backgrounds in finance who wanted to build a distillery from scratch in a state with no major spirits tradition. The distillery quickly became known for its gin and whiskey, produced with a deliberate focus on craftsmanship over volume. In 2017 a majority stake in the company was acquired by Pernod Ricard, giving the distillery access to an international market while retaining its original, craft-driven profile.
