Single Malt Scotch Whisky in Flora & Fauna series bottlings.

In 1992 United Distillers started their Flora & Fauna series consisting of 26 different Scotch Single Malts to highlight the diversity of Scotland’s Whisky regions. The range was first bottled at 43% in 70cl bottles. Later some expressions have been issued at Cask Strength.

The Flora & Fauna has been discontinued (in 2010 ?) by the current owner Diageo.

    In 1992, the then United Distillers (now called Diageo and the world's largest spirits company) started the Flora & Fauna series, which at the time consisted of 26 different versions of Scotch Single Malt whisky to show the vast differences in Scotland's whisky regions. Bottled at 43% for most of the bottles, but a few were also bottled at Cask Strength, i.e. full cask strength, and some versions also came in wooden boxes.

    Beautiful, citrusy flavor, aroma and body. Relatively dry and spicy with hints of licorice, tobacco, orange peel and white pepper. A little smoke is also mixed in, as well as salted caramel, nuts and pepper.

    The distillery Glen Spey is located in Rothes in Speyside and is one of the smallest distilleries owned by Diageo. A rarely heard of distillery that produces whisky for J&B. Malt and fruity notes on the nose. Medium body with orange, toffee and vanilla on the palate. Classic Speyside expression.

    Just south of Elgin you will find Glenlossie, along with a number of other distilleries that are unknown to most, but all of which produce blended whisky. Glenlossie is a familiar component of Haig's and Dimple. Cornflakes and vanilla on the nose. Slightly subtle with fruity notes, ginger and toast on the palate. White pepper on the finish.

    In Buckie in Speyside you will find Inchgower, which is especially known as an important component in Bell's blended. Golden with ripe pear notes in the aroma. Nice texture with lots of toffee and vanilla on the palate. Nice structure and a nice, long and spicy finish

    Linkwood is located in Elgin, Speyside and primarily makes whisky that is used in blends such as Johnnie Walker and White Horse, but sells to many others. They produce single malt under their own name in addition to this and a rare special release. Beautiful floral nose. Also a nice texture with marzipan and almond notes. Nicely tart and quite fresh.

    The distillery Mannochmore is located in Elgin in Speyside. Larger distillery today and the main component of Haig whisky. Citrus and lightly perfumed on the nose. Dry with floral notes, ginger and vanilla on the palate. Fresh and light in expression.

    This 10 year Flora and Fauna Single Malt Whisky from the Scottish distillery Teaninich, offers a medium-bodied flavor with a pleasant dryness. There are notes of sugar barley, smoke and cereals as well as a hint of oily herbal notes with citric acidity and a touch of espresso.
