Dalmore Whisky

Dalmore Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Dalmore might just be the most legendary distillery in the world, when it comes to creating stunning whisky with real provenance. Even the distillery itself looks incredible, as it overlooks the Cromarty Firth - an estuary from whose banks rise impressive slopes specked with green thicket and wooded copse.

The classic 12 and 15 year old have long been a mainstay for lovers of rich highland whisky, and the master blender, Richard Paterson, is one of the industry’s best loved celebrities. As well as working at Dalmore, Richard blends for Isle of Jura as well as Whyte and Mackay. Not one to shy from experimentation, he makes use of varying barley strains and age old vintages, which he blends with all the talent of a modern day alchemist.

A recent slew of ultra premium whiskies have cemented the distillery as one with true éclat, and under Paterson we’ve seen record prices paid for super aged drams. In 2002, at McTear’s auction house in Glasgow, £25,877.50 was reached for a 62 year old bottle of Dalmore single malt, setting a new record for the highest price paid for a bottle of Scotch whisky. That was surpassed in 2009 when a whopping £27,600 was reached for Dalmore Oculus, which contained whiskies from 1878, 1922, 1926, 1939 and 1951! Truly a historic single malt…

Dalmore was founded by Alexander Matheson in 1839 and now stands as Whyte and Mackay’s largest distillery as well as being the flagship for the brand. With four pairs of stills, Dalmore has a capacity of 4.2 million litres per annum and operates at near capacity, but still retains its quality and character.

The house style is undeniably one of rich, full-bodied whisky, with orange, chocolate and coffee flavours and Dalmore whisky is regularly enjoyed as a post dinner digestif.

Dalmore 12 years old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70 cl 40%

Dalmore The 12 year old whisky is aged fifty/fifty in old American oak bourbon casks and old Oloroso sherry casks. The color is dark golden and the aroma is intense and full of character. Good structure with silky smooth notes of barley with a hint of Oloroso sherry "lurking" in the background. Dalmore 12 Years Old is elegant with distinct aromas of orange, orange marmalade and spices. The taste is more elegant than muscular. The old Oloroso casks have done their part to make Dalmore 12 Years Old appear deliciously warm and powerful, but still very harmonious.

  • Dalmore King Alexander III Single Highland Malt Whisky 40% ABV
    Item no.: 22227865461-203

Dalmore King Alexander III is a complex and luxurious Highland single malt, created as a tribute to Clan Mackenzie and a legendary royal rescue in 1263. This whisky is unique in its maturation – aged in no fewer than six different types of casks, resulting in a deep and nuanced flavour profile.

The whisky is named after King Alexander III, who, according to legend, was saved by an ancestor of the Mackenzie clan when a mighty stag threatened his life. In gratitude, the king granted the clan the right to bear the stag as their crest – an emblem that still adorns every Dalmore bottle today.

Dalmore King Alexander III is the first single malt in the world to be matured in six different cask types: bourbon, sherry, madeira, port, marsala, and French wine casks. The result is an elegant and balanced whisky with layers of fruit, spice, and sweetness.

    Region: Highland, Scotland
    Type: Single malt Scotch whisky
Age: NAS (no age statement, but includes older components)
    ABV: 40%
    Volume: 70 cl
Cask types: Bourbon, sherry, madeira, port, marsala, and French wine casks

This whisky is a masterpiece from Dalmore and a testament to Malt Master Richard Paterson’s skill in balancing multiple layers of flavour. It’s ideal for special occasions, as a gift, or for collectors who appreciate innovation and historical depth.
