Kavalan Single Malt Whisky

The first family-owned distillery in Taiwan is called Kavalan. The founder Mr. Tien-Tsai Lee got help with his distillery dreams by world-class master blender, Ian Chang and the late Dr. Jim Swan.

They have won countless awards in competitions around the world and are known for high quality and storage on casks that add lots of character to the whiskey.

The temperature in Taiwan is approx. 24-30 degrees year-round and this affects the production of their whiskey. For example, evaporation is significantly greater than in colder climates when the whiskey stores. For the same reason, it's not called "angel's share" in Taiwan, but "devil's share" because so much evaporates from the dishes. On the other hand, the heat also means that the whiskey matures significantly faster and therefore the various Kavalan Singlemalts can be sent to the market already when they are just 3 years old.
