In Luberon, southern Rhône's sun-drenched corner, the sun, the terroir and the grape blend all work together in this wine. The Marrenon cooperative has turned getting the best from the region's warm climate into something of a science.
Expert's Description
Marrenon Grand Marrenon Luberon 2023 is a Red Wine from Luberon, France made from the Syrah and Grenache grapes, bottled at 15% ABV.
The wine clearly carries the imprint of Luberon's warm climate, where the grapes ripen fully and develop deep colour, intense aroma and generous body. The wine sees oak ageing, which adds discreet notes of vanilla and cocoa without overpowering the fruit. The 15% alcohol is well integrated, giving a soft, almost velvety mouthfeel.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Ripe dark berries, blackcurrant, cherry and a touch of spice recalling Mediterranean herbs.
Palate
Powerful and round, with plenty of ripe fruit, warm spices and mature, pleasant tannins.
Finish
Long and full, with notes of dark fruit, liquorice, pepper and a light smoky nuance.
Serving & Food Pairing
Serve at 16-18°C, ideally lightly decanted. The wine is excellent with hearty dishes such as grilled meat, lamb, stews, game and mature cheeses.
