Behind the name 1423 sits a Danish spirits house that has, since 2008, made a virtue of hunting down and bottling rare single casks, and the Special Cask range is where the truly rare finds end up.
Expert Description
1423 Special Cask 25 Year Rum Company is a Rum from a selected single cask, aged for 25 years and bottled at 43%.
The rum is released by 1423 World Class Spirits, a Danish spirits house founded in 2008 that specialises in seeking out and bottling rare casks of whisky and rum from around the world. Under their broad S.B.S. range, they continually release single casks from named countries of origin, but the Special Cask line is reserved for the most unusual and longest-aged finds in the portfolio. With 25 years of ageing, this rum ranks among the oldest releases 1423 has ever bottled.
The result is a deep, mature rum, where decades of cask influence have given way to a complex, rounded character with notes of dried fruit and spice.
