    Expert description

La Hechicera Reserva Familiar Extra Añejo is a Rum from Colombia, blended in a solera system from rums 12 to 21 years old in former bourbon casks, bottled at 40%.

The rum comes from La Hechicera, founded in 2012 in Barranquilla by the Riascos family, who have preserved the craft of rum-making through three generations. The rum is produced at Casa Santana in Colombia without added colour or sweetening, just cask to bottle. Reserva Familiar is the house's most ambitious solera blend, where the long maturation gives a deep, rich and well-integrated profile.

About La Hechicera Rom

La Hechicera is distilled and blended in Cartagena using a solera method, where rum from barrels of different ages is continuously blended together so every bottle carries character from several vintages at once. That gives a deep, complex sweetness that has made La Hechicera one of the most respected names in premium Colombian rum.

History & Background

La Hechicera was developed by a group of Colombians with deep experience in the rum and spirits industry, wanting to recreate the classic solera tradition known from sherry and cognac in a rum. By using barrels with an average age up to 21 years, the producer created a rum that emphasises patience and craft over quick solutions.

Production & Style

The rum is blended in a solera of several barrel types, where older and younger rum are continuously combined, giving a deep, layered sweetness with notes of dried fruit and spice.
