Gefjun Distillery was founded and is run by Alan Kampman and Michael Reibel Boesen – two passionate visionaries with a shared goal of creating Danish spirits with character, local roots, and high quality.

Alan Kampman has a background as a logistics expert with experience from the military and major logistics companies such as DSV, and is known for his ability to bring together flavor and culture.

Michael Reibel Boesen brings strong expertise in flavor, development, and production. He takes a technical approach to the craft of distillation and helps ensure that every bottle from Gefjon meets their high standards.

Together, they form a partnership that blends creativity, curiosity, and respect for raw ingredients – and with Gefjon Distillery, they have created a platform for Danish spirits that dares to be different and truly tastes like something.

Gefjun Distillery is a Danish craft distillery based in Skovlunde on the island of Zealand, known for its curious approach to flavour and its willingness to challenge convention. With a focus on quality, innovation and local ingredients, the distillery has already made its mark with award‑winning gin and rum – and now with its first whisky release: Urt.

Urt is the result of a unique collaboration between Gefjun and a passionate Danish brewer. The starting point is a powerful amber lager brewed from three carefully selected malt types, contributing deep caramel notes and a reddish‑gold hue. The beer base undergoes a secondary fermentation that increases dryness and alcohol strength – ideal conditions for distillation.

Hops are deliberately omitted to let the malt character shine clearly. After distillation, the new‑make spirit is matured in oak casks, where time and wood shape its expression. The result is a Danish whisky with warmth, depth and a pronounced malt profile – a liquid story of what happens when brewing artistry and distillation craftsmanship merge.
