Port Askaig 17 Years Limited Edition 2023 is an exclusive Islay single malt whisky, released in 2023. It has been matured in traditional American oak casks and bottled at 50.5% ABV. Approximately 9,000 bottles are produced annually for this edition.

On the nose, there are notes of melon, ham, and grapes, combined with bonfire smoke and citrus zest. The palate offers dense smoke and minerality, with hints of raspberry leaves and chocolate, leading to red fruits and a touch of medicinal smoke with an herbal finish.

This whisky is non-chill filtered and contains no added color, preserving its natural character. It is well-suited for enthusiasts looking for a mature Islay whisky with a complex flavor profile.

As always with this type of whisky with no distillery name on the bottle, you wonder "Which distillery supplied the whisky for this bottling" - we don't know, but if rumors are to be believed, Caol Ila is the leading candidate. It's certainly the same semi-strong smoke and citrus character. Bottled at 45.8% alcohol with no chill filtration or added coloring.
