Speciality Drinks Whisky

Speciality Drinks is the name behind the name — the company that went online in 1999 with The Whisky Exchange and has since supplied both Michelin-starred restaurants and small country pubs with the same expertise. It's the engine room behind some of whisky's most respected independent series.

Port Askaig 15 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70 cl 50.5%

Port Askaig 15 Years Old is a limited edition single malt whisky from Islay – and as always with Port Askaig, the name of the actual distillery remains a secret. We do know, however, that the whisky comes from the north coast, which strongly suggests either Caol Ila or Bunnahabhain… part of the brand’s charm and mystery.

This release is composed of 30 casks, all traditional refill hogsheads, and it is bottled at 50.5% without chill‑filtration and with no added colour. The result is a whisky with natural character, depth and a clean, unadulterated Islay profile.

    Colour: Golden.
Nose: Elegant combination of vanilla pods, sea breeze, oregano and subtle BBQ smoke.
Palate: Salty and lightly smoky with citrus notes, tobacco, brown sugar and a long, lingering finish.

A beautifully balanced Islay whisky where smoke, sweetness and maritime notes come together in a mature and nuanced expression. Perfect for the experienced Islay drinker, but also an excellent introduction to more complex smoky styles.

  • Port Askaig 17 Years Old Limited Edition 2023 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 50,5%
    Item no.: 22227865363-2023ltd

Port Askaig 17 Years Limited Edition 2023 is an exclusive Islay single malt whisky, released in 2023. It has been matured in traditional American oak casks and bottled at 50.5% ABV. Approximately 9,000 bottles are produced annually for this edition.

On the nose, there are notes of melon, ham, and grapes, combined with bonfire smoke and citrus zest. The palate offers dense smoke and minerality, with hints of raspberry leaves and chocolate, leading to red fruits and a touch of medicinal smoke with an herbal finish.

This whisky is non-chill filtered and contains no added color, preserving its natural character. It is well-suited for enthusiasts looking for a mature Islay whisky with a complex flavor profile.

    Item no.: 22227865363-10175
Port Askaig 8 years old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70 cl 45.8%

Port Askaig 8 years Old is a super nice whisky from the island of Islay. As always with this type of whisky with no distillery name on the bottle, you wonder "Which distillery supplied the whisky for this bottling" - we don't know, but if rumors are to be believed, Caol Ila is the leading candidate. It's certainly the same semi-strong smoke and citrus character. Bottled at 45.8% alcohol with no chill filtration or added coloring. Enjoy this Port Askaig in a Glencairn glass and look forward to: Smoke and crisp citrus notes and the scent of fresh fruit and malt on the nose. Flavors head towards: Honeysuckle, sea salt, licorice and peat in this 8 year Port Askaig Whisky.

About Speciality Drinks

Speciality Drinks Ltd was founded by brothers Sukhinder and Raj Singh, who together have nearly 50 years of experience in the spirits trade, and who in 1999 launched The Whisky Exchange, today one of the world's largest online specialist retailers of whisky and fine spirits. Beyond retail, the firm has developed a number of acclaimed proprietary brands, including Elements of Islay, Port Askaig, Single Malts of Scotland and the luxury series Black Tot, featuring the last authentic stocks of Royal Navy Rum. For collectors, the name stands as a guarantee of thorough cask selection, while newcomers gain access to one of the industry's broadest, most carefully curated ranges.

History & Background

Sukhinder and Raj Singh began their journey in the spirits trade long before the internet made online shopping the norm, and in 1999 The Whisky Exchange was among the first to sell whisky and fine spirits over the web. The firm's expertise grew alongside a rising on-trade business, and Speciality Drinks today supplies some of Britain's most acclaimed hotels and restaurants while serving small country pubs with the same personal service. From the early, standalone single malt releases, the firm has since developed an entire family of award-winning brands, all built on the core idea that genuine expertise need not compromise on accessibility.

Production & Style

The whisky is distilled at various distilleries and then selected cask by cask, often unfiltered and with a focus on authenticity.

Signature Style

Varied, Authentic, Cask-Driven
The flavor varies by source distillery, but a clean, unfiltered cask character is common.
