Dictador Solera 12 year old 70cl / 40%Colombian RumDictador rum is produced by fermenting a mixture of molasses and sugar cane. Then the substance is distilled in steel columns and filled into oak barrels that are aged according to the solera method. Finally bottled under the highest quality control.

Nose: intense with soft caramel, honey, dried seeds, roasted coffee and oak. Taste: soft and round with caramel, cocoa, honey, coffee, oak with a high complexity. Won Gold at Rum XP 2010 in Miami Rum from Colombia Now Colombia is not a country we, at our latitudes, associate with rum production. We think more about drugs and gang wars, right? Nevertheless, Colombia has a tradition of rum production. The 3rd generation of the family behind the distillery - Destilería Colombiana - which produces Dictador (which is a trade name) decided to launch Dictador on the world market in 2009. MAC Y: "We knew rum from Colombia when we met the people from the company behind Dictador in 2009. We were very critical, as the "normal" rum style in Colombia is a very sweet rum - almost a likør. It was not what we were looking for. But to our surprise, there was a good complexity in these rums. They are still on the sweet side, but very easy to drink." In 1751, Severo Arangoy Ferro arrived in Cartagena de Indiasto, bringing control and increased trade between American Spanish colonies and Spain. His strength and power earned him the name "Dictador". He was enthusiastic about many things in the New World - and the local rum was also of his interest. He decided to (also) set his sights on rum production in the area, as far as his power extended. A true Dictador descendant - Don Julio Arangoy Parra - then established Destilería Colombiana in 1913. This distillery was then selected as the supplier of the rum Dictador by a Polish company that had scouted the rum market for this particular style of rum.
