About Midleton
Midleton Very Rare is produced at the large Midleton distillery in southern Ireland, the same facility behind Jameson, and has been released as an annual, hand-signed vintage since 1984. Each year the master distiller blends the release from a selected collection of pot still and grain whiskeys of varying ages and cask types, producing a complex, creamy style that stands well apart from Ireland's more accessible brands. History & Background
The Midleton distillery traces its roots back to 1825, but the current, modern facility was built in 1975 right next to the old distillery, which today serves as a visitor centre known as the Jameson Experience. Midleton Very Rare was launched in 1984 by then-master distiller Barry Crockett as a tribute to his father's decades at the distillery, making it one of the first modern "prestige" releases in Irish whiskey. The tradition of the master distiller personally signing each bottle has continued under Crockett's successors and has cemented Midleton Very Rare as Ireland's answer to Scotland's most exclusive vintage releases.

Midleton Distillery in County Cork is the heart of nearly all Irish whiskey production under Irish Distillers/Pernod Ricard, including Jameson, Powers, Redbreast and Green Spot. The modern distillery was built in 1975 next to the old 1825 Midleton distillery, and "Midleton Very Rare" is the house's own prestige label: an annual, limited release composed by the master distiller from the very best casks in the warehouse.
