  • Abuelo XII Anos Three Angels Panama Rum bottle
    Item no.: 22227865480-67093-0377

Only casks from the top tier of Ron Abuelo's hot warehouses, where up to 15% of the rum evaporates each year, are selected for this intense edition of the house's 12 year old classic.

    Expert Description

Abuelo XII Anos Three Angels is a Panama Rum double-aged 12 years in white American oak followed by extra-charred casks and bottled at 43%.

The rum is produced by the Varela Hermanos distillery in Panama and is a more intense edition of the house's award-winning Abuelo XII Two Oaks. Unlike the standard release, this uses only rum from the casks on the top row of Ron Abuelo's vintage pallet warehouses, where temperatures can reach as high as 35 degrees Celsius. The extreme heat increases evaporation, known as the angel's share, to as much as 15% a year, far above the 2-3% typically seen in Scotland, which gave the rum its name Three Angels.

The result is an intense, deeply flavoured rum, where toasted hazelnut meets dark chocolate and a long, lightly smoky finish.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Toasted hazelnut, sweet spice and exotic fruit with a touch of leather, dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans.

    Item no.: 22227865449-275

Fiji isn't the first place that comes to mind when the talk turns to rum, but that very rarity is part of the appeal. Berry Bros. & Rudd, the London wine merchant founded in 1698, has found a single cask far out in the Pacific and brought it home under its own name.

    Expert Description

Berry's Fijian 11 Year is a Fiji Rum from Berry's Own Selection, bottled at 46%.

This Fijian rum has aged for 11 years, a rare provenance that stands markedly apart from the more familiar Caribbean and South American rum styles.

Fiji as a rum origin is still a rarity on the Danish market, making this Berry's release an opportunity to explore a style few rum lovers already know.

  • Miniature bottle British Royal Navy Imperial Rum with certificate
    Item no.: 059763-615-9

A numbered certificate accompanies this small bottle - proof that the contents come from one of the original gallon bottles the British Navy used for sailors' daily rum ration.

    Expert description

British Royal Navy Miniature with Certificate is a dark Imperial Rum of unknown distillery, bottled at 54% in a small 5 cl collector's bottle with an accompanying certificate of authenticity.

The rum comes from one of the original "One Imperial Gallon" bottles carried aboard British Navy ships for distributing the daily "tot of rum". When the tradition was abolished in 1970, remaining stocks were recalled, and some of the rare gallon bottles only resurfaced many years later. To make the contents available to collectors, part of the rum has been bottled into small 5 cl bottles, each with a numbered certificate documenting its origin.

Only 70 of these miniature bottles with certificate have been produced, making each one a tangible piece of British Naval rum history - an era when navy strength sat well above ordinary rum, and where the very term "over proof" arose as a test of whether the rum could ignite gunpowder.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Dark, molasses-heavy and with a distinct hint of age.

    Palate

Powerful and raw, in the classic navy style at high strength.

    Finish

    Long, warm and lingering.

    Did you know?

The term "proof" in spirits comes from the Navy's practice of testing rum strength by pouring it over gunpowder and trying to ignite it - if the gunpowder could still burn, the rum was "above proof".

    Expert Description

Compagnie des Indes 2004/2017 Secrete 13 Year is a Panama Rum from a single cask, distilled in 2004, bottled in 2017 at 56.9%.

The rum is column-distilled from molasses at an undisclosed Panamanian distillery and has since spent 13 years in cask, predominantly in the tropical climate with a smaller share of continental ageing, before being bottled by the French independent bottler Compagnie des Indes. Panama is known for a lighter, more delicate rum style than its neighbours, which this bottling confirms with its relatively bright, yet complex profile.

The long ageing period has given the rum a depth that balances the wood's spice with a fresh, almost salted caramel character.

    Expert Description

Compagnie des Indes 2005/2018 T.D.L. 13 Year is a Trinidad Rum from a single cask, distilled in 2005, bottled in July 2018 at 45%.

  • Compagnie des Indes Secrete Jamaica 9 Year single cask rum bottle
    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-19709

A cask whose origin remains a secret. Compagnie des Indes chose to call this Jamaican rum "Secrete" because the distillery behind it doesn't want to be named, but the flavour speaks its own, unmistakable language.

    Expert Description

Compagnie des Indes 2007/2017 Secrete 9 Year is a Jamaica Rum from a single cask, distilled in 2007, bottled in 2017 at 54.1%.

The rum is bottled by the French independent bottler Compagnie des Indes, founded in 2014 by Florent Beuchet with the aim of showcasing rum's diversity through authentic, characterful single casks from around the world. This Jamaican edition comes from a cask marked "Secrete", as the distillery behind it is undisclosed, a practice several Jamaican distilleries use to protect their identity from competitors. The rum is bottled without chill filtration and without added colour or sugar, from an outturn of 238 bottles.

The typical Jamaican "funky" character, with its pronounced ester profile, is clear in this rum, where tropical cask ageing has produced a powerful, fruity intensity.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Unmistakably Jamaican with banana, molasses and canned pineapple, complemented by a light, rubbery note.

    Palate

Lime peel and tropical fruit open, followed by a light touch of oak, vanilla syrup and almond.

    Finish

Full, fruity and powerful with a long finish and low perceived sweetness.

A cannonball of rum, forced through peated whisky casks for half a year, this is not a random title but a very precise description of what awaits in the glass.

    Expert description

Compagnie des Indes Boulet de Canon No. 6 is a Blended Rum composed of matured distillates from Nicaragua and Panama, finished for 6 months in ex-peated Islay whisky casks and bottled at 46%.

    Tasting notes

    Item no.: 059763-615-637

On the banks of the Albert River in Queensland, rum has been distilled since 1884 - this bottle shows what one of Australia's oldest distilleries can do when column and pot still work together.

    Expert Description

Dead Reckoning Australia is a Single Blended Rum from Australia, 9 years old, aged on ex-bourbon American oak casks, bottled at 55%.

The rum represents a highlight of Australian rum history, distilled on the banks of the Albert River in Queensland - a site with a distilling tradition dating back to 1884. Inside the heritage-listed facility, the rum matures in the tropical climate on American oak following a combination of column and pot still distillation, which in turn follows a 48-72 hour fermentation period from locally produced molasses. The combination of the two distillation methods creates a complex base that the long tropical ageing builds upon.

Dead Reckoning is one of the rarer Australian rum brands to find its way to the Danish market, making this bottle an opportunity to taste a style most rum lovers have never encountered.

    Tasting Notes

Molasses, caramel and a hint of tropical fruit.

    Item no.: 059763-615-638

A double-retort pot still from the South Pacific and casks from an Australian winery in Wagga Wagga - two unusual elements that together create this rum.

    Expert Description

Dead Reckoning South Pacific is a Single Blended Rum from the South Pacific, 10 years old, aged on 40-year-old Muscat casks, bottled at 47%.

The rum was distilled in the South Pacific in 1994 on a John Dore pot still with a double-retort configuration, also known as a "double thumper". The blend consists of 80% continuous-still rum and 20% pot-still rum, creating a complex base. This base was then aged on 40-year-old Muscat casks, supplied by Charles Sturt Winery in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales - casks that add a sweet, wine-toned character to the powerful rum. The release was bottled in 2022 and is limited to 1,240 bottles.

The combination of South Pacific distillation and Australian Muscat cask ageing makes this bottle an unusual crossover of two spirits traditions.

    Item no.: 22227865443-1511

Guyana's Demerara River has for centuries delivered rum with a heavy, earthy character. Bristol Spirits captured a single distillate from the Diamond distillery in 2003 and let it mature for the best part of a decade before bottling it without embellishment.

    Expert Description

Diamond Distillery 2003/2015 Bristol Classic is a Guyana Rum distilled on column stills and bottled at 43%.

The rum was distilled in 2003 at the Diamond distillery, owned by Demerara Distillers Limited on the east bank of the Demerara River, and cask aged until 2015, when it was bottled by the independent English bottler Bristol Spirits under the Bristol Classic Rum label. The rum is molasses-based and column distilled, a style that offers a cleaner, more traditional expression than the heavy pot still rums Guyana is also known for.

The twelve years of ageing, partly in Guyana and partly after transport to England, has given the rum a balanced character, where fruit and wood meet without either dominating.

    Tasting Notes

    Item no.: 2227865479-1106-197280322-98

Rum from the Dominican Republic typically has a softer, more approachable style than its heavy Trinidadian cousins, and Blackadder's Raw Cask edition shows that character in its purest, unfiltered form.

    Expert Description

Dominican 2011/2021 Blackadder Raw Cask 10 Year Finest is a Dominican Rum from a single cask, aged for 10 years and bottled at 60.1%.

The rum is bottled by Blackadder International, the family-run Scottish bottler founded in 1995 by Robin Tucek, without any filtration or added colour, in line with the rest of the Raw Cask range. Compared to Blackadder's Trinidadian releases, the Dominican style is traditionally lighter and more rounded, something this rum confirms despite its relatively high natural cask strength. The rum was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2021 after 10 years of ageing.

The result is a round, fruity rum, where tropical fruit and vanilla meet a warm, spiced finish with a hint of honey.

Gayuma means "love potion" in Filipino – a rum that seduces with smoke from Islay and sweetness from Rioja, born on the slopes of the dormant volcano Kanlaon.

    Expert Description

Don Papa Gayuma is a Filipino Rum made from 100% Negros sugarcane molasses and bottled at 40%.

The rum first matures in the volcanic climate at the foot of Mount Kanlaon on the island of Negros, before being finished in a double finish in ex-Rioja and Islay whisky casks. This gives Gayuma its dark amber colour and a character that blends the rum's natural sweetness with a distinct touch of peat smoke – an unusual combination for a Filipino rum. The Don Papa brand is named after Papa Isio, a Filipino freedom fighter and local hero figure from Negros.

    Tasting Notes

Equipo Navazos came from the sherry world, where the group made its name finding forgotten, extraordinary casks in the bodegas of Jerez. La Bota 65 is where that same curious approach is turned toward an entirely different spirit: rum.

    Expert Description

Equipo Navazos Bota 65 is a Rum from the Antilles finished in an Oloroso sherry cask in Spain and bottled at 44%.

The rum's origin is 32 casks from the Antilles, which first spent five years in bourbon barrels before being transferred to freshly emptied Oloroso sherry casks in the Jerez region. There the rum continued maturing for a period estimated at between 15 and 20 years, before Equipo Navazos bottled it under the name "Bota 65" in May 2016.

The rum is bottled without any chill-filtering, colouring, sweetening or flavouring, a philosophy Equipo Navazos brings from its work with rare sherries, where purity and transparency about origin always come before commercial consistency.

Blackadder calls its series Raw Cask because it removes nothing from the barrel, neither chill-filtering nor the small particles otherwise sieved out. This Guyana Diamond is rum as it comes straight from the barrel.

The rum is bottled by the Scottish independent bottler Blackadder, known in the whisky world for its Raw Cask series, where the spirit is filled straight from the barrel without chill-filtering or reduction with water. The base distillate comes from the Diamond distillery in Guyana, famous for its many different still types, including the historic wooden stills still in use there.

Fourteen years of ageing without filtering gives a rum with a markedly mineral and earthy character, where the raw, unfiltered elements from the barrel provide an intensity rarely found in more commercial releases.

Enghaven was founded in 2007 by Esben Moestrup, Erik Moestrup and Mikkel Nordkvist on the family farm the Moestrup family has run since 1881, and since then the range has grown from fruit brandy to also include rum, gin, vodka and whisky. Fjord Rom is built on molasses and has been given eight years to find its depth and warmth. Only 19 bottles of this batch were filled.

    Investment Potential

Medium - only 19 bottles exist of this batch, and Danish rum from small farm distilleries like Enghaven is steadily becoming more sought after among collectors.

    Did You Know?

Enghaven sits on a farm the Moestrup family has owned since 1881, and the distillery was only founded in 2007 - first with fruit brandy, later with rum, gin, vodka and whisky. Fjord Rom is therefore as much a story about a farm in transformation as it is about the fjord outside.

  • Bottle of Grander 12 Year Peated Finish Single Barrel Panama rum
    Item no.: 059763-615-646

The whisky world's peat meets Panama's tropical rum tradition in this release, where the final two years on an Islay cask leave a marked impression.

    Expert Description

Grander 12 Year Peated Finish is a Panama Rum, 12 years old, aged 10 years on ex-bourbon casks followed by 2 years of finishing on an ex-Islay Peated Scotch Whisky barrel, bottled at 62.3%.

The rum has aged for 12 tropical years in Panama. The first 10 years were spent on ex-bourbon casks before it was moved to an ex-Islay Peat Scotch Whisky barrel for the final 2 years - a finish that adds a marked hint of smoke to the otherwise classic Panama rum profile. The bottle comes from cask number IP2214, is undiluted and unfiltered, preserving the rum's full, powerful character.

  • Bottle of Grander 14 Year Speyside Finish Single Barrel Panama rum
    Item no.: 059763-615-647

Where the last release drew its finish from Islay, this one heads to Speyside - a different part of Scotland, a completely different character.

    Expert Description

Grander 14 Year Speyside Finish is a Panama Rum, 14 years old, aged 12 years on ex-bourbon casks followed by 2 years of finishing on an ex-Speyside Scotch Whisky barrel, bottled at 64.3%.

The rum has aged for 14 tropical years in Panama. The first 12 years were spent on ex-bourbon casks before it was moved to an ex-Speyside Scotch Whisky barrel for the final 2 years. The Speyside casks add a softer, more fruit-sweet character than the peated Islay casks, giving this release a markedly different profile from its sister bottle, Peated Finish. The bottle comes from cask number SS2211, undiluted and unfiltered.

Speyside is known as Scotland's most productive whisky region, with a generally lighter, more fruity style ideal than Islay's peated whisky - a contrast that comes through clearly in this rum.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Fruit-sweet with apple, pear and a hint of vanilla.

    Palate

Powerful and full-bodied with soft fruit sweetness from the Speyside cask.

  • Bottle of Grays Distillery 11 Year Dràm Mòr Mauritius Single Cask Rum
    Item no.: 22220-6735skadetetiket

A rare agricole rum from Mauritius, sourced by Scottish bottler Dràm Mòr - this particular bottle has a damaged neck foil, but the contents are unaffected.

    Expert description

Grays Distillery 11 Year is a Single Cask Rum from Mauritius, bottled by Dràm Mòr at 51%.

Dràm Mòr, the Scottish independent bottler founded by Kenny and Viktorija Macdonald, sought out and purchased a cask from Grays rum distillery on Mauritius, from which only 444 bottles have been drawn. The nose is sharp and vegetal with a hint of barnyard and a prominent ester note - typical of the pure agricole style, where the rum is distilled from fresh cane juice rather than molasses.

This particular bottle has a damaged neck foil, which does not affect the rum's contents or quality but is the reason it is sold separately. The palate offers a clean agricole profile with tropical fruit, where sharpness and sweetness balance against a lingering dryness.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Sharp and vegetal, with a hint of barnyard and prominent ester character.

    Palate

Clean agricole profile with tropical fruit, sharpness and sweetness in balance.

    Finish

Notably dry and pleasant, reminiscent of a fine oloroso with stone fruit, white pepper and a touch of unroasted coffee.

Mauritius is one of the lesser-known rum origins, but the island's agricole tradition of distilling from fresh cane juice gives a style closer to French rhum agricole than classic Caribbean rum.

  • Bottle of Great Dane 15 Year Skotlander Danish rum
    Item no.: 059763-6167849

Fifteen years in ex-bourbon casks has given this Danish rum a depth rarely found outside the Caribbean - peach, pineapple and coconut in a glass brewed in an old slaughterhouse in Jammerbugten.

    Expert description

Great Dane 15 Year is a Dark Sweet Rum from Skotlander, matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 42%.

The Great Dane series is Skotlander's flagship, and the 15-year release represents the longest maturation in the range. The rum has been allowed to mature for fifteen years in ex-bourbon casks, where time has created a harmonious balance of sweetness, oak and tropical fruit. The lightly charred, sweet bourbon barrels give the rum its characteristic depth and a long, warm finish.

Behind Great Dane is Skotlander Spirits, a family-run company that since 2013 has produced award-winning rum, gin and liqueur in an old slaughterhouse in Pandrup in Jammerbugten. Great Dane has won several international awards and has been named one of the world's best rums.
