Asbach 8 Year is a classic German brandy with deep roots in tradition and craftsmanship. It is produced by the renowned Asbach distillery in Rüdesheim am Rhein, which has been known for quality brandy since 1892. This 8-year-old edition represents a more mature and complex version of the popular Asbach Uralt.

The brandy is distilled from wine and aged for up to eight years in small oak barrels, giving it a rounded and full-bodied character. The flavor profile offers notes of apple, apricot, coconut, and red grape, with a distinct presence of oak. It has a medium body, balanced sweetness, and no smokiness, making it accessible and enjoyable for both new and experienced brandy enthusiasts.

With an alcohol content of 40 percent is Asbach 8 Year an ideal drink for after-dinner enjoyment, as a companion to dessert, or simply as an elegant sipping brandy. Its natural color and non-chill-filtered production emphasize its authentic and unadulterated character.

About Asbach Brandy

Asbach is the best-known German brandy, distilled using a French-inspired method in the town of Rüdesheim on the Rhine. For newcomers it's a warm, caramel-toned brandy just as good in a cola long drink as neat; for collectors it's notable that Asbach is deeply rooted in the culture and history of its hometown Rüdesheim, including as a fixed ingredient in the iconic Rüdesheimer Kaffee, a flaming coffee drink invented in 1957 that remains a local tourist attraction.

History & Background

Asbach was founded in 1892 by Hugo Asbach in the town of Rüdesheim am Rhein, after he had studied cognac distillation in France and wanted to bring the same level of craftsmanship to Germany. When German law later banned the use of the term 'cognac' for products made outside France, the term 'weinbrand' was coined instead for this type of wine distillate, a category Asbach is still considered Germany's best-known representative of today. The brandy became deeply rooted in the local community around Rüdesheim, notably as the main ingredient in the famous Rüdesheimer Kaffee, invented by a German TV chef in 1957. In Berlin, Asbach is traditionally enjoyed mixed with cola under the affectionate nickname 'Futschi'.

Production & Style

The brandy is distilled from German wine using the classic double distillation method and aged in oak casks for several years.

Signature Style

Full-Bodied, Fruity, Soft
The flavor offers a full-bodied, soft character with a clear touch of ripe fruit and vanilla.
