Drumshanbo Whiskey

In the small Irish village of Drumshanbo, PJ Rigney decided in 2014 to build a distillery around copper pot stills and local ingredients. Drumshanbo is the result of that decision: an Irish whiskey that carries the name of the village that raised it.

About Drumshanbo

Drumshanbo is distilled and bottled at The Shed Distillery in the village of the same name in north-west Ireland. For newcomers it's an accessible introduction to Irish whiskey with a soft, gently sweet character; for enthusiasts it's notable that the same distillery is also behind the award-winning Gunpowder Gin, reflecting a shared philosophy of small copper pot stills, local ingredients and care at every step of production.

History & Background

Entrepreneur PJ Rigney founded The Shed Distillery in 2014 in the village of Drumshanbo in County Leitrim, beginning by distilling neutral spirit, vodka and gin on small copper pot stills before whiskey followed. The name is taken directly from the village where the distillery is located, underlining the local roots that still shape production. Since then, The Shed Distillery has built an international reputation, particularly through Gunpowder Gin, but Drumshanbo Irish Whiskey is a natural part of the same craft story.

Production & Style

The whiskey is distilled following Irish pot still tradition, with a focus on local ingredients.

Signature Style

Spicy, Full-Bodied, Round
The whiskey offers a spicy, full-bodied character with a round finish.

Did You Know?

The name Drumshanbo is also the name of the small Irish village where the distillery is located, and PJ Rigney deliberately insisted on naming both the gin and the whiskey after the place to root the brand locally.
