  • Bottle of City of London No. 5 Square Mile London Dry Gin
    Item no.: 2222786539-1809

Named after the financial district where the distillery itself is based, Square Mile is the more intense, powerful big brother to No. 1, built to hold its own even in a classic gin and tonic.

    Expert's description

City of London No. 5 Square Mile London Dry Gin is an English premium London Dry Gin distilled by the City of London Distillery and bottled at 47.3%.

Botanicals infuse for 18 hours in the neutral spirit before distillation, and the recipe includes juniper, coriander, angelica, orris root, lemon, orange and liquorice.

The high strength of 47.3% gives the gin a fuller body and makes it robust enough to keep its clear, classic London Dry style even in a strong drink.

The name Square Mile refers to the City of London's informal nickname, the historic financial district where the distillery is based.

About City of London

City of London Gin is an English gin, distilled right in the City of London district, founded in 2012. For newcomers it's an accessible way into several classic gin styles, from London dry to Old Tom and sloe gin; for collectors it's notable that the distillery was the first new one in the district in over a hundred years, making it a central symbol of the revival of English gin right in the city's financial heart.

History & Background

When two gin enthusiasts decided in 2012 to open a distillery right in the heart of London's financial district, they encountered a city where the very idea of distilling had been absent for over a hundred years, pushed out by rising rents and industry's move to the city's outskirts. Their ambition was to revive the craft gin tradition London was once famous for, but this time among banks and skyscrapers rather than back alleys. Since opening, the distillery has developed a broad range of styles, from classic London Dry to Old Tom and sloe gin, and today stands as one of the most striking examples of the English gin revival.

Production & Style

The gin is distilled with juniper and classic London Dry botanicals in a traditional English style.

Signature Style
