Santos Dumont Rum

This excellent rum is named in honor of Alberto Santos Dumont (July 20th 1873 – July 23rd 1932).

He was a world famous aviation pioneer, noble man, celebrity and style icon. He was the heir of a wealthy family of coffee and sugar cane producers in Brazil.

His father, French born Henri Dumont was known as the "Coffee King of Brazil" and on the family’s vast farm named Cabangu in the state of Minas Gerais near São Paulo.

An Ultra-Premium blend that Santos Dumont Heritage certainly lives up to. The rum is made from Brazilian fresh sugar cane juice blended with molasses-based rum from the Caribbean and Central America. The aroma offers notes of leather and apricots, complemented by soft tobacco notes. On the palate, you can sense ripe apricots and coconut sweetened with demerara sugar, as well as a hint of citrus followed by cocoa and mocha. The finish is wonderfully smooth and complex. Alberto Santos Dumont was a great aviation pioneer and the first to fly a heavy aircraft in Europe. The story of this rum, however, takes its starting point in Dumont’s childhood. He was born in Brazil as the son of a wealthy coffee and sugar producer. On the vast plantation they produced both rum and Brazil’s national spirit, Cachaça. In his adult life, however, he focused more on aviation and moved the entire family to France. His passion for adventure and flight came from reading Jules Verne’s novels.

Santos Dumont XO has matured in three types of casks, which contribute to its flavor, character, and smoothness. It has been aged in ex-bourbon, PX sherry, and port wine casks.
