Brenne

A French whisky, distilled and matured in cognac casks. Brenne was created by American entrepreneur Allison Patel, who fell for France's terroir and set out to make a whisky no one else was making. The result is a floral, almost wine-like single malt that breaks every expectation of French spirits.

About Brenne

Brenne is a French whisky, distilled in the Cognac region and matured in former cognac casks. For newcomers, it's an easy whisky to start with, since its floral, fruity style is far more approachable than a dry, smoky Scotch single malt, while for the more experienced whisky drinker it's compelling because it shows just how much cognac-cask character and French terroir can shape a single malt - something still found at only a handful of producers outside Scotland.

History & Background

Brenne was founded by American entrepreneur Allison Patel, who, during a stay in France, became captivated by the idea of combining Scottish distilling tradition with the Cognac region's cask-ageing culture. The whisky is distilled from 100% organic malted barley and double-distilled in classic alembic Charentais copper pot stills, the same type traditionally used for cognac production. Maturation takes place in French Limousin oak casks that previously aged cognac, giving the whisky its signature floral and fruity notes. With a focus on terroir and craft, Patel positioned Brenne as one of the first and most distinctive French single malt whiskies on the international market.
