Bulldog Gin

Bulldog Gin is the London gin that broke the rulebook: dragon eye, lotus leaf and poppy seed alongside juniper, packed in a black bottle with a bulldog head as its logo. This is gin with attitude, built to stand out behind the bar.

The name pays tribute to Winston Churchill's famous "Bulldog spirit", and the bottle, short, grey and studded around the neck, is just as distinctive as the gin itself. Behind it stands a former banker who left JPMorgan to distil gin.

    Expert's description

Bulldog London Dry Gin is an English London Dry Gin quadruple-distilled from 100% British wheat and bottled at 40%.

The gin launched in 2006 from the Bulldog Gin Company, founded by Anshuman Vohra, a former JPMorgan banker who left finance to pursue his passion for gin.

The 12 botanicals are sourced from eight different countries and hand-picked each year from the same regions to ensure consistency. Alongside classics like juniper, lemon peel, almond and lavender, the recipe includes three entirely unique ingredients: Chinese lotus leaves, Turkish white poppy and Chinese dragon eye fruit.

The gin is distilled in traditional copper pot stills, and its distinctive bottle with a matte black plastic screwcap is just as recognisable as the name itself.

About Bulldog Gin

Bulldog Gin is distilled in England to a recipe that deliberately skips the most common London Dry botanicals, pulling flavour from the Far East and the Mediterranean instead. The result sits somewhere between classic and exotic, and it quickly found a home on cocktail bars worldwide thanks to its bold, almost aggressive bottle design.

History & Background

Bulldog Gin was created by American entrepreneur Anshuman Vohra, who wanted a gin with its own voice for the new wave of cocktail bars. It launched in the mid-2000s and quickly caught on among bartenders in London and New York, helped along by its striking packaging. Today Bulldog is distilled in London and sold in over 50 countries.

Production & Style

The base is a classic London Dry distillation of juniper, coriander, angelica root and citrus peel, but Bulldog adds unusual botanicals like dragon eye (longan), lotus leaf, poppy seed and bay leaf. All twelve botanicals are distilled together in traditional copper stills.

Signature Style

Exotic, Round, Spicy
A soft, slightly sweet gin with a hint of exotic fruit from dragon eye, backed by classic juniper and a light peppery spice finish.
