Blind Tiger Gin

During American Prohibition, secret bars appeared in the shadows, called 'blind tigers', because guests officially paid to see an 'animal' and got a drink thrown in. The French distillery Miclo in Alsace borrowed the name for its own gin, a tribute to an era of cunning and forbidden pleasure. This is French craftsmanship dressed in American smuggling history.

From the Deluxe Distillery in Belgium comes this powerful gin, where cubeb pepper is distilled separately and added afterwards to preserve its full, spicy character.

    Expert's description

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Dry Gin is a Belgian Dry Gin, unaged and bottled at 47%.

The gin uses 15 botanicals, including juniper, coriander seed, malted barley, licorice, angelica root, orris root, lemon, sweet and bitter orange peel, orange blossom, ginger, green cardamom, cubeb berries, lavender and a secret Belgian botanical.

Most botanicals are macerated and distilled in a 400-litre copper pot still, while the cubeb pepper is double distilled separately and added afterwards to preserve its full strength.

The malted barley gives the gin a warm, long finish that sets it apart from more classic London Dry styles.

    Item no.: 2222786539-1150

During American Prohibition, hidden bars concealed themselves behind a sign showing a "blind tiger", so patrons knew what to expect inside. That spirit lives on in this Belgian gin, distilled in secret.

    Expert's description

Blind Tiger Imperial Secrets Gin is a Belgian gin distilled by Deluxe Distillery and bottled at 45%.

The gin is distilled in small batches in a concealed back room in the western part of Belgium and uses 11 botanicals, including juniper, coriander seed, grains of paradise, angelica root, orris root, lemon peel, bitter almond and lemongrass.

What sets Imperial Secrets apart is the addition of three types of tea: Chinese Yunnan tea, Assam black tea from Harmutty in India, and the rare Pu-erh tea from the Himalayas, which gives the gin a spiced warmth.

The combination of exotic teas and spices creates a gin that breaks from the classic style and signals the daring, unorthodox character the entire Blind Tiger range is known for.

About Blind Tiger

Blind Tiger is a French gin from the Miclo distillery in Alsace, named after the secret drinking dens that emerged during American Prohibition.

History & Background

The Miclo distillery in Alsace is a family-run house with deep roots in the region's proud tradition of fruit brandy, where generation after generation has refined the craft of distilling spirits such as mirabelle plum and cherry. When the house later turned its attention to gin, it deliberately drew inspiration from the other side of the Atlantic: the term 'blind tiger' referred, during American Prohibition, to secret bars where patrons officially paid to see an 'animal' and received a drink along with it. By borrowing the name for its gin, Miclo forges a link between French distilling tradition and American smuggling history, two worlds rarely mentioned in the same breath.

Production & Style

The gin is distilled with juniper and a French composition of botanicals, in line with the house's other spirit traditions.

Signature Style

Spiced, Fresh, Herbal
The taste offers a spiced, herbal character with a fresh finish.
