Darnley's is a Scottish gin from the Kingsbarns distillery in Fife, produced by the Wemyss family and named after Lord Darnley. For newcomers it's a clean, authentic London Dry gin without unnecessary flourishes; for collectors it's notable that the Wemyss family has a long history as spirits merchants, and their approach to Darnley's deliberately insists on no added flavour after distillation, only water to reduce strength, appealing to those who value the history and invention behind the classic gin and tonic.

History & Background

The Wemyss family has traded wine and spirits in Scotland across several generations, and it was precisely this background that led, in 2010, to the launch of Darnley's as the family's take on a modern, craft gin. To secure full control over production, the family a few years later decided to build their own distillery, Kingsbarns, in the picturesque Fife countryside on Scotland's east coast, where the gin is now distilled alongside single malt whisky. The name Darnley's is a nod to the family's historical ties to Scottish nobility, and it also marks the distillery's ambition to unite stories from the past with the craftsmanship of today.
