In Lembeek outside Brussels, Boon has aged lambic in oak barrels for decades, and to mark the brewery's 50th anniversary they have blended some of their finest barrels into a celebration in bottle form.
Expert description of Boon Mariage Parfait Golden Anniversary Edition
Mariage Parfait is Boon's prestige range of spontaneously fermented lambic, and the Golden Anniversary Edition was created specifically to mark the brewery's 50th anniversary. Boon holds the world's largest lambic stock, over 2.1 million litres spread across 161 oak barrels, and this edition is blended with respect for the classic geuze tradition, uniting young and older lambics in a single bottle.
The high strength of 10% adds extra intensity and body, without compromising the tart, wine-like character that defines spontaneously fermented beer. The barrel ageing contributes subtle wood notes and a structure that lifts the beer beyond an everyday geuze.
