Hoppy People Zebra III is an extremely powerful barrel-aged Imperial Stout at a full 16.6% from the Swiss brewery Hoppy People in Sierre. Zebra III is the third release in their experimental Zebra series, where each batch is unique and aged in different barrels. This version is a barrel-aged stout with massive alcohol strength and deep complexity, brewed to impress with both power and finesse.

The beer has a jet-black colour and thick head, and the aroma offers roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and spirit warmth. The flavour is intense and layered with notes of burnt caramel, coffee and dried fruit, balanced by a silky mouthfeel and long finish. The barrel ageing adds depth and a subtle wine-like character.

Fable is part of Lervig's Rackhouse series, where the Stavanger brewery indulges its passion for barrel ageing to the fullest. The base is a powerful Imperial Stout, which has then rested for a full three years in the dark - first in port wine barrels from Portugal, then in bourbon barrels from Kentucky. The two barrel types meet and merge in the beer, and the result is a deep, complex stout carrying traits of both worlds: the port's sweet, winey depth and the bourbon's warm, smoky sweetness.

Rackhouse is Lervig's dedicated line for barrel-aged beers, where time and wood are just as important ingredients as malt and hops. Fable is among the more ambitious releases in the series - a beer that takes patience to brew, and rewards the same patience in whoever drinks it.
