Without a doubt, the most consistent independent bottler is Blackadder. The philosophy of owner Robin Tucek (co-author of The Malt Whisky File) is simple and logical:

Preferably whisky at full cask strength, no chill filtration, no added colour. In other words, only the purest whisky.

Blackadder has now taken things even further with their RAW CASK initiative. They use a special technique where only wood splinters are removed, while other elements – such as rich oils – remain in the whisky to preserve all flavour compounds. This means whisky with natural sediment. It ensures the optimal, unaltered taste in every single bottle.

Blackadder Black Snake Vat No. 17 Third Venom Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70 cl 59.6% is an intense and characterful whisky bottled at cask strength, created by the independent bottler Blackadder as part of their experimental Black Snake series.

This edition – Third Venom from Vat No. 17 – is based on a solera-inspired maturation system, where whisky is first aged in first fill bourbon casks and then transferred to an Oloroso sherry butt. A portion of the vat is bottled, and the remainder is topped up with fresh bourbon-matured whisky, creating depth and continuity in the flavour profile.

Bruichladdich Loch Indaal 2007 from Blackadder is a peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured for 10 years and bottled at 63.3%.
Loch Indaal is the name the peated Bruichladdich spirit carried before Port Charlotte became its own brand. The whisky was distilled in 2007 and bottled in August 2018 from a single hogshead, cask number 3413, by independent bottler Blackadder as part of their Raw Cask series.
Only 244 bottles were drawn from this single cask, with no cold filtration and no added colouring, giving a raw and undiluted taste of the peat straight from the wood.

Raw peat smoke and sea salt, with a young, grainy sweetness and a touch of tar.
Palate
Powerful and direct with intense smoke, black pepper and an oily, full texture from the high cask strength.

Blackadder is known for its Raw Cask series, where the whisky is bottled straight from the cask without chill filtration or colouring – and without removing the sediment that naturally settles during maturation. The result is a whisky that stands as close to the distiller's original work as it is possible to get.
Only 589 bottles of this specific release exist, making it a genuine single cask experience from one of Speyside's most talked-about distilleries.
