In 2012, Karl Mason started a Facebook page about Gin & Tonic Friday, which gathered 10,000 followers and gave him and his wife Cathy the confidence to quit their jobs. Two years later, Yorkshire's first distillery opened.
Expert's description
Masons Dry Yorkshire Gin The Original is an English London Dry Gin distilled on ten botanicals and bottled at 42%.
The gin is distilled in Yorkshire in copper stills named "Steve" and "Leftie" and cut to strength with spring water from Harrogate. Botanicals include juniper, cardamom, coriander, lemon and lime peel, angelica root, fennel, almond, orange zest and bay leaf, alongside a handful of secret ingredients.
The result is a warm, spiced gin with a hint of hot-cross-bun complexity and a gentle aniseed finish, which has won over 90 international awards since launching in 2013.
