At A Clean Spirit in the Dominican Republic, sustainability begins right at distillation, and the clear Blanco rum shows exactly what happens when cask influence is dialled all the way down.
Expert Description
Ron Sostenible White Rum is a Dominican Blanco Rum, bottled at 40%.
The rum is produced by A Clean Spirit, the Dominican distillery that has made sustainability its trademark: CO2 from fermentation is captured and reused, vinasse from distillation is used as fertiliser, and production runs on biomass fuel. Transport takes place on CO2-neutral sailing ships, and the bottles are made from recycled glass with cotton paper labels. Unlike the house's aged releases, White Rum is the clear, unfiltered style, bottled shortly after distillation with no cask ageing, letting the pure sugarcane character take centre stage.
The result is a fresh, clean rum, where sugarcane and citrus meet a light, dry finish.

Did You Know?
A Clean Spirit reuses the vinasse, the by-product of distillation, as fertiliser on its own fields, a circular approach that is unusual in the rum industry.
