    Item no.: 2222786539-20153

The name Giniu is the Sardinian word for juniper, and with this small bottle Silvio Carta puts both the plant and the island's dialect at the centre of a gin built on the Mediterranean's wild herbs.

    Expert's description

Giniu Sardegna Miniature is an Italian gin from Silvio Carta distilled from Sardinian Coccolone juniper and bottled at 40% in a 10cl bottle.

The gin combines balsamic juniper with myrtle, sage, thyme, lemon and wild fennel, all harvested on Sardinia.

Silvio Carta has a long history with myrtle on the island, the family's myrtle digestif recipe dates back to 1939, when the berries helped sustain the local population through famine.

About Giniu Gin

Giniu is distilled by Silvio Carta in Sardinia, a distillery otherwise known for its vermouth and liqueurs. The gin draws on the island's local herbs, giving it a distinct Mediterranean profile quite different from more Nordic and British gin styles.

History & Background

Silvio Carta traces its roots back to the early 1900s in Sardinia, where the family built its name around vermouth and local liqueurs. Giniu was developed as the distillery's take on a gin that still speaks Sardinian, using the island's own word for juniper and letting local herbs play a part.

Production & Style

The gin is distilled around juniper, supplemented by Sardinian herbs and botanicals that give it a spicy, Mediterranean character.

Signature Style

Spicy, Herbal, Mediterranean
A spicy, herbal gin where juniper is joined by wild Sardinian herbs for a distinctly Mediterranean expression.
