Strathmill Whisky

Strathmill was converted from a corn mill into a distillery in 1891 in the town of Keith, in the middle of Speyside's dense distillery cluster. For decades its whisky has gone almost exclusively into the J&B blend, never seeking public attention on its own. Now owned by Diageo, Strathmill remains one of the most overlooked, yet solidly well-crafted malts in the region.

About Strathmill Whisky

Strathmill is a Speyside distillery in Keith, converted from a corn mill in 1891 and historically a core part of J&B blended whisky. For a newcomer, it's a light, elegant, gently nutty style; for the connoisseur, Strathmill is interesting because, like several of its Keith neighbours, it's rarely bottled on its own, making independent bottlings from the distillery prized finds among Speyside collectors.

History & Background

The building originally functioned as a mill before being converted into a distillery in the late 1890s. The distillery has since been owned by several major whisky groups and is today part of the Diageo portfolio, primarily as a supplier of malt for blends.

Production & Style

Strathmill produces a light, clean malt with a characteristic nutty quality that fits well into J&B's soft blend profile.

Signature Style

Light, Nutty, Clean
The flavour offers a delicate, nut-driven character with a clean, gentle finish.
