The Aluxes - the protective spirits of the Maya civilisation - are said to have lived in the maize and cacao fields. This rum pays tribute to them and to the gifts the earth gave the Maya.
Expert description
Cihuatán Alux 15 Year is a Ron de El Salvador from Cihuatán, bottled at 43.2%.
The Alux Limited Edition is inspired by the Maya legend of the Aluxes, the country's protective gods, believed by the Maya to live in their maize and cacao fields - the most divine and essential gifts from the earth. To honour these gods, the Maya held great feasts at the start of each harvest season, enjoying delicacies made from chocolate and maize in gratitude for the harvest's blessings.
In keeping with this tradition, Cihuatán has created a rum that captures the flavours and spirit of the ancient ceremony. The rum is crafted with care, combining the finest ingredients with 15 years of maturation to create a rare and special spirit honouring the ancient Maya civilisation of El Salvador.
