Same wine, same harvest year, just in pocket size: this small bottle holds a concentrated glimpse of Dalva's 2004 Colheita, perfect for tasting your way in before committing to a full bottle.

    Expert's Description

Dalva Miniature 2004 Colheita is a Portuguese Colheita Port – a single-harvest Tawny Port from the Douro Valley – bottled at 20% in a miniature bottle.

The contents are identical to the house's standard 2004 Colheita, simply bottled in a smaller format. The wine comes from a single 2004 harvest and rested in oak casks until the cellar team judged it ready to be bottled.

Behind the bottle stands Dalva, the brand of the Port house C. da Silva in Vila Nova de Gaia, founded in 1862 under the name Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos and renamed in 1933, when Clemente da Silva took over the firm after arriving from Brazil.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose is warm and aromatic, with dried apricot, a touch of honey and a light nutty tone.

    Palate

The palate is soft and round, with caramel and ripe raisins, carried by a fresh acidity that keeps the wine from feeling heavy.

    Finish

The finish is medium-length, warm and spiced, closing on a final hint of toasted almonds.

Frequently Asked Questions about Dalva Miniature 2004 Colheita

Is the miniature bottle the same wine as the standard 2004 Colheita?

Yes, the contents are identical – the same harvest year and the same cask ageing, just bottled in a smaller 5 CL format.

What is a 5 cl miniature bottle typically used for?

It is ideal as a tasting sample before buying a full bottle, as a guest bottle, or as a small gift for Port enthusiasts.

How does Dalva 2004 Colheita taste?

It is round and warm, with dried apricot, caramel and ripe raisins, closing on a medium-length, spiced finish with toasted almonds.

At what temperature should it be served?

Serve it at 14-16°C, ideally in a small glass so the aroma can unfold despite the small volume.

How should the miniature bottle be stored?

Store it upright, cool and dark, and enjoy it fairly soon after opening, since the smaller volume of air in the bottle shortens its keeping time compared with a full-size bottle.
