Vittore Vermouth

Vermouth has a reputation for being heavy and bitterly nostalgic - Vittore wants something else. An Italian vermouth light enough for everyday drinking, yet still firmly rooted in classic craft.

  • Vittore Red Spanish Vermouth from Valencia
    Item no.: 22227865479-11644

In Valencia's old harbour district, Benedetto Valsangiacomo blended his first vermouth in the early 1900s from a secret family recipe.
Vittore Red still carries that legacy forward, decade after decade.

    Expert's Description

Vittore Red is a Spanish vermouth with an ABV of 15%, based on white wine made from the Macabeo grape from the Valencia region.

The vermouth is produced by the Spanish family winery Cherubino Valsangiacomo, which has been making vermouth since 1904 following the original recipe devised by Benedetto Valsangiacomo. Today the tradition is carried on by the fifth generation of the family. The base wine is infused with 24 Mediterranean and Alpine botanicals, including gentian, wormwood, coriander, sage, oregano and chamomile, and its golden colour comes from caramelised grape must.

About Vittore Vermouth

Vittore is an Italian vermouth combining classic methods with a lighter, more accessible style. The vermouth is made from a wine base infused with herbs and spices using traditional Italian recipes, giving it an aromatic, lightly bitter character with a fresh finish that works just as well in a simple vermouth-on-the-rocks as in classic cocktails. By keeping the style lighter than many of the heavier, more bitter classics, Vittore positions itself as an accessible take on Italian vermouth for the curious drinker.

History & Background

Vermouth has roots in Italy going back to the 1700s, when the first aromatised wines were developed in the Turin area. Vittore belongs to a newer generation of Italian vermouth producers who deliberately work with a lighter, more accessible style than the classic, heavier house blends, without compromising on the use of real herbs and spices. That makes the brand an interesting option for consumers wanting to explore the vermouth category without starting with the most bitter and complex classics.

Production & Style

The vermouth is made from a wine base, infused with herbs and spices according to traditional Italian methods.
