Slyrs Whisky
Slyrs WhiskySlyrs Distillery is a whisky producer located by Lake Schliersee in Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1999 by Florian Stetter, it has played a significant role in shaping the German whisky scene and is now one of the country's most recognized distilleries. The name "Slyrs" comes from an old Bavarian word for the Schliersee area, and the distillery itself is situated in the village of Neuhaus, surrounded by mountains and pristine spring water. Production relies on locally sourced malted barley and pure water from the Bannwaldquelle. The whisky is distilled in traditional pot stills and matured in new American oak casks, resulting in notes of vanilla, honey, and spice. In addition to its standard valley storage, some editions are aged at high altitude on the summit of Mount Stümpfling (1501 m), giving the whisky a distinctive character. Visitors are welcomed with guided tours, tastings, and a visitor center where the entire production process is on display. |
