The Kinship Whisky
The Kinship WhiskyHunter Laing’s series The Kinship is created as a tribute to the distilleries of Islay and the traditions that have shaped the island’s whisky for generations. Each release is selected cask by cask and bottled in small quantities, always with a focus on maturity, character and origin. The series highlights older, often rare casks where complexity, elegance and a clear Islay identity take centre stage. It is whisky for collectors and enthusiasts who seek depth, balance and the unique feeling of tasting a piece of Islay’s history. ABOUT The creative approach began with Ardnahoe’s core brand truth: crafting the finest whisky in one of the most stunning distilleries, made by people with deep ingenuity and skill. The distillery’s location is fundamental to its story – with breathtaking views over the Sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura, and with Colonsay and Mull visible on the horizon. To capture this landscape, a mono‑line tapestry of abstract illustrations was created, interpreting the inspiring and enchanting surroundings that define Ardnahoe. The bottle labels pay homage to Islay’s heritage and the age‑old Scotch whisky production process, each one reflecting the expression’s tasting notes. Every modern label illustrates a stage in the whisky journey, from growing the grain to bottling the spirit. Detailed embossing, bold colours, shining gold foil and a striking bottle silhouette give the range a sense of unapologetic pride and confidence, mirroring Ardnahoe’s forward‑thinking mindset and pioneering spirit. To complete the packaging and the story of the collection, each bottle is encased in a drawstring jute bag – a nod to the natural cloth once widely used on the island – adorned with the bespoke Ardnahoe landscape illustration, adding a touch of humble elegance. Each expression from The Kinship was sampled during a bespoke tasting experience at the Islay Whisky Festival, where the bottles were available for purchase and the Ardnahoe brand and vision were introduced. The series was designed to create anticipation before the festival, capture the excitement of guests during the event, and leave a lasting memory of both the experience and the brand – a result that fits seamlessly into the kinship of Islay’s whisky families. |
