Kavalan's foundational expression — subtropical maturation without an extra cask finish.

    Expert description

Kavalan Classic Single Malt Taiwan Whisky is the distillery's core expression, matured in the subtropical climate without an extra cask finish, bottled at 40%. Kavalan Distillery was founded in 2005 by King Car Group in Yuanshan, Yilan County, Taiwan, and was the country's first whisky distillery. The name Kavalan is drawn from the old name for the Yilan area and the name of its indigenous people. The distillery is located where cold air from the Xueshan Mountains meets humid Pacific breezes, giving a unique subtropical microclimate and access to mineral-rich spring water. Since its first product launched in 2008, Kavalan has won over 950 gold medals in international spirits competitions.
