The name Dalmore is ancient Gaelic and means "The big field." The distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson and is located on the coast of Cromarty Firth, overlooking the rich and fertile "big field" of the Black Isle. The pure and clear water used for Dalmore Single Malt Whisky is taken from the nearby River Alness. The Dalmore is a whisky that satisfies all your senses.

It has a long generous finish, making Dalmore one of the classic Highland malts. Each Dalmore single malt whisky has its own unique personality. Chocolate and spices are just two of the special and unexpected aromas found in Dalmore. In a Dalmore whisky, one can recognize up to 26 distinctly different, and often surprising, aromas. Dalmore undergoes exciting transformations during its aging period of 12 to 21 years or even older. As the whisky matures, one can both smell and taste orange, heather, spices, and hints of smoke. The Dalmore Highland malts mature in "first-fill" American oak, which imparts vanilla sweetness, and old sherry casks (Matusalem, Apostoles, and Amaroso) from Bodegas Gonzalez Byass, Spain, which give aromas of citrus fruits, marmalade, and spices.
