Junk Deluxe is Blackout Brewing's take on the pure, concentrated bourbon stout - no fruit, no sherry, just heavy malts and the full power of the barrel.
Expert description of Blackout Brewing Junk Deluxe Bourbon BA Imperial Stout
Junk Deluxe is a powerful and dark Imperial Stout at 12% from the Romanian brewery Blackout Brewing, where heavy malts, deep sweetness and pronounced bourbon barrel ageing melt together into an intense, dessert-like whole. The beer appears almost black in the glass with a thick, oily viscosity that already hints at its concentrated character and high complexity.
The aroma opens with dark chocolate, burnt caramel and roasted malts, followed by distinct bourbon notes of vanilla, oak and a warm alcoholic sweetness. Beneath the first layers you find dark brown sugar, molasses and a light smoky wood note, giving the aroma depth and an almost syrupy fullness. The flavour is full-bodied, creamy and dense, with a pronounced malt profile delivering cocoa, espresso, liquorice and dark caramelised sugar layers.
The bourbon barrels add warmth, vanilla, spice and a rounded wood character that balances the beer's sweetness and gives a harmonious yet powerful whole. The finish is long, deep and persistent with notes of dark chocolate, toasted oak, bourbon and a sweet, warm ending.
