Blair Athol 2011/2025 Signatory Vintage 13 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Signatory Vintage as part of their Cask Strength Collection. This exclusive release comes from a single cask, specifically a first-fill ruby port hogshead, which has imparted a rich and complex flavor profile to the whisky.  

This 13-year-old whisky is bottled at a powerful strength of 57.7%, ensuring an intense and full-bodied experience. The maturation in a ruby port cask has enriched the whisky with deep notes of red fruits, spices, and a velvety texture.  

The whisky opens with an aroma of black cherries, fruit preserves, hazelnut brittle, and a hint of ginger. These scents create an inviting and warm introduction to the complex tasting experience that follows. On the palate, a rich and sweet flavor unfolds with notes of port-soaked sponge cake, strawberry jam, candied orange peel, and dark chocolate. The combination of fruity and spicy elements provides a harmonious balance, where the port cask influence blends seamlessly with Blair Athol’s natural malty character.  

The finish is silky and spiced, with nuances of nutmeg and tart red berries that gradually fade into a rounded tone of toasted oak. The long and lingering aftertaste leaves a memorable impression, where the complexity and depth of the whisky continue to evolve on the palate.

This whisky is from the distillery Blair Athol in the Highland region and is number 8 in The Chess Malt Collection. The distillery was founded in 1898. Blandy’s is among the most respected names in Madeira, and this 2010 Harvest Colheita made from the Malmsey grape (Malvasia) shows why. Malmsey is known as the sweetest and richest of Madeira’s classic grape varieties, giving the wine an intense and full-bodied character.
