Casks from the legendary Brown-Forman in Kentucky, originally used for bourbon, get a new life at Boann Distillery, where they are filled with a pot still distillate made from four Irish grains.

    Expert Review

Boann Distillery Triple Distilled Single Pot Still Marsala Cask is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey matured in former bourbon casks with a marsala finish, bottled at 47%.

The whiskey is originally matured in former bourbon casks from the renowned Brown-Forman in Kentucky, made from American oak at 200 litres with heavy charring. Boann Distillery filled these casks with a Single Pot Still distillate made from malted barley, unmalted barley, oats and rye, all Irish grains grown locally. The distillate is triple distilled, giving a cleaner and more rounded base character, before the finishing marsala cask adds body and sweetness.

    Tasting Notes

Grain sweetness and a light wine-driven tone from the marsala casks.

    Palate

    Finish

    Medium, with lingering grain sweetness.
