In 1962, when Nikka Super Whisky was launched, it was Nikka's most expensive whisky with a price tag of around 3000 yen. At the time, only 1,000 bottles were made per year, and in fact, it is said that Nikka Super had a special, symbolic meaning for master blender Masataka Taketsuru because it was the first whisky he created after the death of his wife Rita the previous year. Today, Super Nikka is made up of components from the Miyagykyo and Yoichi distilleries and offers a delightful taste of honey, almonds, mashmallows and sea salt. Enjoy it neat or in cocktails.
