The bubbles need room to rise, and the drink needs to stay cold for as long as possible. Riedel Fizz Glass is the tall, narrow model in the Drinks Specific Glassware series, borrowing its logic from a champagne flute and adapting it for the bar.

    The Expert’s Description

Riedel Fizz Glass is a tall cocktail glass from the Drinks Specific Glassware series by the Austrian glassmaker Riedel, made from machine-blown crystal glass and shaped for cocktails with bubbles, such as a Gin Fizz.

The shape draws on the same thinking as a champagne flute, where a tall, narrow body holds onto the bubbles longer than a wide bowl would. If you'd rather mix with sparkling wine than a cocktail, take a look at our range of Champagne & Sparkling Wine.

    Design & Material

The tall, narrow shape reduces the glass's surface area, which holds onto the carbonation from soda or tonic longer than a wide glass would. The crystal glass is machine-blown and just as thin-walled as the rest of the Drinks Specific Glassware series.

    Use & Recommendation

Fizz Glass is designed for cocktails with bubbles or carbonation, where you want the fizz to last as long as possible. The glass is dishwasher safe and works well both for everyday use and for serving guests.

    Did You Know?

Did you know Riedel's experience with champagne glasses, where the shape needs to hold onto the bubbles, carries through into the thinking behind Fizz Glass? Even though it is designed for the bar, it builds on the same knowledge of how carbonation behaves in a glass.

Frequently Asked Questions about Riedel Fizz Glass Drinks Specific Glassware 6417/03 - 2 pcs.

Why is Fizz Glass so tall and narrow?

The tall, narrow shape reduces the surface area, which holds onto the carbonation from soda or tonic longer, much like you see in a champagne flute.

    Which cocktails suit Fizz Glass?

The glass is designed for cocktails with bubbles or carbonation, such as a Gin Fizz or other drinks topped with soda.

Is Riedel Fizz Glass dishwasher safe?

Yes, the glass is dishwasher safe, though a gentle hand wash is kinder to the thin crystal glass.

Can Fizz Glass also be used for sparkling wine?

Yes, the narrow shape works well for sparkling wine if you don't have a champagne flute to hand. See our full range of Champagne & Sparkling Wine for inspiration.

Where can I find the rest of the Drinks Specific Glassware series?

You'll find the whole series in our range of Riedel Glass.
