Sometimes the spirit just needs to stand alone, no ice, no mixer. Riedel Neat Bar is the smallest glass in the Drinks Specific Glassware series, shaped to cradle a single dram and let it speak for itself.

    The Expert’s Description

Riedel Neat Bar is a compact tasting glass from the Drinks Specific Glassware series by the Austrian glassmaker Riedel, made from machine-blown crystal glass and shaped specifically for spirits enjoyed neat.

At just 17.4 cl it's the smallest glass in the whole series, designed to be cradled in the hand while the spirit slowly warms and the aromas open up. If you want to try it with a whisky, you'll find a broad range under Whisky.

    Design & Material

The low, tulip-shaped body gives the spirit less surface area to evaporate from, which helps hold on to the aromas, while the narrow rim channels the scent toward the nose much like a nosing glass. The crystal glass is machine-blown, giving it a thin, light feel despite its compact size.

    Use & Recommendation

Neat Bar is designed for spirits enjoyed neat, without ice or a mixer, where you want to be able to properly nose the dram. The glass is dishwasher safe, though it looks its best with regular hand washing, as it is thin-walled.
