The Riedel Black Tie series is designed as decanters in evening wear - elegant, hand-blown pieces that belong just as much in a display cabinet as on a beautifully set dinner table.

    The Expert's Description

Riedel Black Tie Decanter 4100/23 is a hand-blown crystal glass wine decanter from the Austrian glassmaker Riedel, part of the brand's exclusive Black Tie series of designer decanters.

Riedel has been making glass since 1756, and the family business is now run by its 11th generation of glassmakers and designers. The Black Tie series belongs to Riedel's so-called "Fatto a Mano" decanters - Italian for "made by hand" - where each decanter is shaped by a glassblower rather than a machine. If you need the right bottle for the decanter, browse our range of Red Wine.

    Design & Material

The decanter is hand-blown in crystal glass, meaning each individual piece carries small, natural variations that make it unique. The elegant, elongated shape and its 42 cm height make the decanter a striking centrepiece that signals a level of craftsmanship beyond machine production.

    Use & Recommendation

The decanter works well for decanting full-bodied red wines that need air, but it works just as well as a striking serving piece for a special occasion. Because the decanter is hand-blown, we recommend washing it carefully by hand in warm water, so the fine glass shape is preserved for many years.
